Susana VARELA FLOR

Susana Varela Flor obtained her PhD in History (specialising in Art, Heritage and Restoration) from the Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa for a dissertation entitled “Aurum Reginae or Queen-Gold”: The iconography of Catherine of Braganza” in 2010.
Between 2012-2015 she was the coordinator of the “DigiTile Library: Tiles and Ceramic online” project (PTDC/EAT-EAT/117315/2010), funded by Portuguese national funds through FCT/MCTES (PIDDAC).
From 2102, sheis full memberofthe Instituto de História da Arte da Faculdade de CiênciasSociais e Humanas da Universidade Nova de Lisboa and a collaboratorofthe Instituto HERCULES fromUniversidade Évora. It is in these two institutions that she has conducted her post-doctoral project, entitled “O Retrato Barroco em Portugal (1612-1706): história, arte e laboratório” (SFRH/BPD/101741/2014), to which it was conceded a grant.
In the last few years, she has been collaborating with Spain researchers and several Universities. From 2015 to 2018, she has integrated the team of La CópiaPictóricaen La MonarquiaHispânica. Siglos XVI-XVIIIProjecto ID HAR20014-52061-P. Ministerio de Economia Y Competividad de lo Gobierno de España (Prof. David García Cueto) Universidad de Granada.
She was also member of the R&D project “Apropiaciones e hibridaciones entre las artes plásticas y las artes espenicas (HAR 2015-70089-P (MINECO/FEDER), coord. Carmen González-Román (Universidad Málaga), concluded in 2021.
She is presently member of the R&D project «DIGITALIZING THE BAROQUE FESTIVALS. Virtual reconstructions of the ephemeral ornament in Spain and Portugal (17th and 18th centuries)», Proyecto de I+D+i PID2019-108233GB-I00 (MICINN), coord. Victoria Soto Caba (UNED).
Currently she is full researcher at Universidade NOVA de Lisboa funded by national funds through the FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia, I.P., under the Norma Transitória – [DL 57/2016/CP1453/CT0032]» and researcher of IN2PAST (Associate Laboratory for Research and Innovation in Heritage, Arts, Sustainability and Territory)
