The SRS conference is an interdisciplinary event for scholars working on the period c. 1400-1700. Areas of study represented at previous conferences include archaeology, architecture, history of art, history, history of science and medicine, literature, music, and philosophy.
The conference committee encourages proposals for panels (90 minutes, including discussion) as well individual proposals (20 minutes); we particularly welcome panels which are interdisciplinary in scope.
Panels and papers should engage with one of the following themes:
– The natural world
– Frontiers, identity, exchange
– Power, protest and resistance
– Knowledge, truth, and expertise
– Civil and uncivil discourse
– Ornament and display, performance and perception
The conference will also feature an open strand for papers which engage with themes other than those suggested.
Proposals (max. 400 words) are welcome from both postgraduates and established scholars. They should be sent by 1 Sep 2017 to firstname.lastname@example.org. In your submission, please indicate which theme or themes are most relevant to your panel/paper and include a brief note of your institutional affiliation.
